action on Oct. 23, 1918. He joined the Army from New Jersey. Pfc. Smith served with the 312th Infantry Regiment, 78th Infantry Division. He is buried at Plot B, Row 20, Grave 37, at Meuse-Argonne American Cemetery, Romagne, France. Source:
