Thomas VanHoutenNutley Soldier Killed in War Near BuddiesSurvived by brother in Belleville(Feb. 2, 1967) Thomas VanHouten, 19, of Raymond Ave., a week ago became the third young man from Nutley to lose his life in the Vietnam War. VanHouten, a private first class with the Army’s Ninth Infantry Division was killed at 11:30 p.m. on Jan. 23, when a mortar or grenade exploded near his foxhole in the Mekong Delta.
