Nutley Soldier Killed in War Near BuddiesSurvived by brother in Belleville(Feb. 2, 1967) Thomas VanHouten, 19, of Raymond Ave., a week ago became the third young man from Nutley to lose his life in the Vietnam War. VanHouten, a private first class with the Army’s Ninth Infantry Division was killed at 11:30 p.m. on Jan. 23, when a mortar or grenade exploded near his foxhole in the Mekong Delta. In addition to his parents and twin brother Richard, Thomas is survived by another brother, John of Belleville. The Wall: Panel 14E - Row 075
