60 Years Ago - 1943

To the Editor:
 
This Veterans' Day, let us not forget these Belleville sons, brothers and fathers who paid the ultimate price for our freedom 60 years ago:
 

Stephen R. Otozky  was killed aboard the Jeremiah Van Rensselaer on Feb. 2.
John Paterno was killed in action  in Tunisia in February.
Joseph Burlazzi was killed in Tunisia in March.
Joseph Taibi was killed in Tunisia in April.
Mario Morano was killed in Tunisia in May.
Fireman, 1/c Charles R. Braun  was killed June 5.
Sgt. Michael G. Froehlich was killed over Europe on June 11.
Cpl. Gerald Fuselle, 24, died in North Africa on July 10.
1st Lt. Harry Salz died at Fort Dix, N.J., on July 25.
Donald Hartley, 20, was killed in the North Atlantic on Aug. 18.
Fred R. Wyckoff was killed in action in Tunisia in August.
Thomas A. Peacock was killed near Malta on Sept. 11.
William White, 30, was KIA off Salerno, Italy, Sept. 11.
William Gaydos was killed in the Atlantic on Oct. 9.
Seaman Vincent F. Nucci was KIA Oct. 21.
Sgt. John Del Grosso died in San Diego, Calif. on Nov. 8.
Pfc. Joseph Klimchock was killed in Italy on Dec. 2.

 
Let the people of Belleville forget none of the 112 who died in WWII, the 20 who died in WWI, the 4 who died in Korea, the 11 who died in Vietnam, or those Belleville Sons who died in service during peace time.
